dMC goes GLOBAL
One of the drivers in our recovery and long term growth (not to mention saving the planet), is going to be the environmental technology sector.
UKTI South East, responsible for attracting inward investment and promoting business for the South East, has taken a stand at Vancouver’s Globe 2010,
the major international exhibition for environmental technologies. They needed full marketing collateral - folders, brochures, exhibition banners and
even USB memory sticks made from recycled material.
dMC was happy to oblige with the design, print and editorial, as well as managing the whole project - which included sourcing the memory sticks from China,
as well as ensuring delivery to Canada inside ten working days.

One to watch
Accountants Reeves+Neylan have been awarded “One to Watch” status from Best Companies, the name behind The Sunday Times ‘Best Companies to Work For’ list.
They were one of only 773 firms across the country to achieve accreditation, based entirely on employee perception.
Last autumn, Reeves+Neylan employees took part in a confidential Survey about personal growth, management and general well being. Best Companies analyse
the results awarding a ‘star rating’ three stars for extraordinary, two for outstanding and one for first class, as well as the Ones to Watch category,
putting them among the top organisations in the country for employee relations. Pictured: Andrew Griggs, Partner at Reeves+Neylan

Lindfield-based Impact Art, an arts and built environment consultancy, has been appointed as the preferred bidder to the Essex Building Schools for the Future

running a LEP (Local Education Partnership), design, refurbishment and construction of the schools, as well as their maintenance for 26 years from 2011.

Golfers: charity golf day
Sponsorship/client entertainment opportunity
Peter James, screen writer, film producer and Sussex’s international best-selling crime thriller novelist and creator of Detective Superintendant Roy Grace,
will be inaugurating the “Peter James Golf Classic” at Haywards Heath Golf Club on Wednesday 15 September in aid of the local charity Action Medical Research.
He will be writing direct to local businesses, but members might be interested in an early warning to help the charity exceed its success last year in raising
over £8,000. Opportunities exist for a “Main” sponsor, or entering a team or sponsoring one of the many competitions like “nearest the tee” or by donating a prize
for the raffle. A team of 4 will cost £200 and this includes entry into all the competitions and a magnificent running buffet. Should any of these be of interest,
please contact Bob Sansom on 01444 412190 who will be pleased to provide full details.

Events update
Thanks to everyone who responded to our survey about the events programme for the next quarter. With some helpful insights to keep it in line with members’
wishes, we will be launching the programme in the next few days. In the meantime please note that the Question Time set for 23rd March is not now taking place –
but we hope to run it during the election.
‘The future is forward’, retailers tell HHDBA
“We must forget what’s happened in the past, the future is forward,” was the message from retailers from Haywards Heath, Cuckfield and Lindfield
who came to the meeting we organised in February.
All felt we need to look forward and build a strong future and speakers called for community leaders to work together to help promote the town and village
centres so residents would have as little need as possible to travel elsewhere. With the challenge of online shopping and a very slow economic recovery,
it was vital to be positive about the district and to build for the future.
“We need better branding for the town and very much improved information signage about car parks and the location of shops,” said Ian Goodridge, Leader of
the Retail & Town Centre Task Group. “We want to see our shops to be the first choice for the large community who live, work or commute from here.”
He reported the planned promotional days – including St Georges Day in April, Mid Summer’s Day in June and Christmas Festivities in November.
Thornfields
The news that the planned regeneration of Haywards Heath by Thornfields will not go ahead is disappointing. The HHDBA will keep in close contact with
MSDC to ensure that it is kept informed on the next steps the Council intends to take.
Managing stress
Get a free day’s training on how to manage stress in the workforce. Organised by Mid Sussex Well Being and Active and Healthy Workplace,
the day includes explanations of the legal aspects, health and safety as well as how to identify and monitor stress.
It takes place on 25th May 2010 at Haywards Heath Town Hall. For more details or to book a place, contact Donna Imrie on 01273 644103 or e-mail.
Contribute to the Sussex Business Manifesto
HHDBA members have been invited to contribute to the Sussex Business Manifesto, being produced by Sussex Enterprise in conjunction with the FSB and IOD.
The aim is to highlight the key issues that face businesses big and small, locally, across Sussex and nationally.
From the 15th March, you can access an online questionnaire at www.sussexvoice.co.uk and your input will shape the final document which will
be distributed to MPs, Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, local authorities and other key decision makers. If you have any questions,
please email Nick Handley.
